It's been a while
Well I haven't been on here in quite some time. I returned back to work after my maternity leave and things just seemed to be super busy. We now have a recent addition yo our family too. Sweet little baby Kylie joined us on July 26th, 2012. Life is starting to return to normal so maybe I will be more consistent at updating my blog.

A Busy Weekend
well, we were at the lake most of this weekend. hubby's aunt and uncle were visiting alberta from quebec. we had a lot of fun, until the rain storm hit. we bought liam a bug catching kit from the dollar store which he loves. there were many spiders and ants caught (then safely released) and the most common phrase heard was, "mommy, i found a mystery". apparently a magnifying glass will do that to you :)
mr. serious:
"mommy, i found a mystery"
tonka toys are amazing
bugs and boys go hand in hand
it was fun while getting dirty... not so much when he realized how dirty he actually got.

The Best Dinner Rolls
okay, honestly i don't have that much experience with bread making, but these dinner rolls have never failed me...
2 1/4 tsp yeast
1/4 c warm water to dissolve yeast
1 c milk
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1 c flour, then add 2 c flour
dissolve yeast in warm water. warm milk and butter in the microwave for 1 minute. add remaining ingredients and knead 6-7 minutes. let rise in a bowl with 1/2 tsp oil for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. shape into rolls and let rise another 30- 45 minutes. bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
until next time...

Diving In...
well here it goes... always a daunting task of trying something new. i am super excited to start a blog about my family, interests and my career, and i can only hope that my blog will be as interesting as the many that i so enjoy reading.
a little about myself... i am a mother of 3 children (2 biologically and 1 through my spouse). our two boys (liam- 3 years, and dylan- 1 year) live with us in a small town in northern alberta, and our daughter (mekayla- 5 years) lives in quebec with her mother. the boys are active and keep me on my toes, and they bring many precious moments which i will always treasure- from dylan learning how to play the harmonica and laughing hysterically at the sound that it makes, to liam saying to me that he can't sleep because he has a "super-duper wedgie". maybe these are not the sort of things that you should share to the world, but they are the moments that make me smile.
i recently returned to work (after my maternity leave) to the same job with a brand new twist. i am normally a secondary math/science teacher, but i was privileged to experience the exciting challenge of teaching kindergarten. some of you may be wondering why a teacher would choose not to use a single capital, but it's nice to take a moment away from "following the rules"... oh and i did mention that i am a math teacher? back to kindergarten... i would have to say that the remainder of the school year (we're now on summer holidays) was one of the most rewarding times of my teaching career. i am very much looking forward to the next school year, and hope to share some of those amazing moments with the blogging world.
so feel free to read, comment and share your opinions. i am pretty easy-going, and would love to hear from you. until next time...
